Leonard May, son of Johann Nickel Meÿ, was born in Niederhausen an der Nahe in the Rheinland Palatinate in 1719 and died before April 1777. When his brother, Daniel, wrote a will in April 1777 in Berkeley County, Virginia, he referred to Leonard's son Daniel as "the lawfully begotten Heir of the Body of my brother Leonard May."
